The future is a bit off...

One of my favorite technological issues is also the subject of Dan Wilson's book "Where's My Jetpack?: A Guide To The Amazing Science Fiction Future That Never Arrived." This is the notion that we were all supposed to be living in a world filled with Jetson advances like flying cars and robots for housemaids.

My thought today is that some might've thought that libraries would have been transformed from physical locations to digital libraries or virtual institutions by now. Digital libraries like other awaited technology hold a lot of promise for library users.

In the next couple of weeks I will complete a project that will feature some hands on work with digital libraries. My project will examine the utility of digital libraries for users emphasizing access. I will report here on the progress of the project.

Flickr

I explored Flickr several weeks ago for a Web page design class. The subject of my web page was my hobby as an adult hockey player. I am a ice hockey goaltender. The web page explored opportunities for adults (men and women) to play hockey.

I searched Flickr for some ideas for images to use on the site. The Flickr images were high quality and varied. I think they captured my view of and experience playing the sport.

One page explored the phenomena of pond hockey. The images I found on Flickr were some of the best I found on the web.
